To be impactful, one must be intentional. Flexible leaders understand this truth. They diminish the destructive potential of conflict and make it into something productive in a very conscious, deliberate manner. They embrace the variety of ideas and opinions that surface as a result of social diversity, and recognize the balance between consensus and contention that must be achieved to create and to maintain a healthy school setting. They’re active players, they’re engaged listeners, they’re adamant relationship-builders, and they’re humble enough to admit that there are multiple avenues that lead to success, even if it’s not of their own creation.
